Handling such a child requires patience and understanding . You have to be careful about what you say. Instead of attacking the child with harsh words, find out the reason behind the habit. Why does he or she have the undesirable character. You could be surprised to find out that your baby is compensating for something going on in his or her life. For example, other pupils could be picking at them every time and so they form a defense mechanism.
Are you a good example to your children? Perhaps you boy or girl is imitating something they see at home. Besides, discourage siblings from ill-treating each other, so they do not grow up believing it is okay to harass others or be harassed.
Before you adopt tough love, consider understanding what is happening in your child’s life. If you cannot get through to him or her, find someone who can such as a family member or religious leader. If they cannot get your kid to open up then you should consider counseling and therapy.
Correcting a child is not all you should do. Praise him or her when it is worth it. It feels nice to be appreciated for doing something right, but do not overdo it.
Make it clear to your child that bullying is not acceptable. Explain what good behavior is and why it is great to be nice to other people This way, your child will unlikely feel as if you are attacking him or her.
Bullying among children is a common habit. There will always be a kid who finds time to harass his or her peers. If you have a bully in your family, approach the child with a corrective approach and do not attack them. However, it does not mean that you go soft on them. Teach your little ones acceptable behaviors, find out why they are acting up and take the necessary measures to help them get in line.
