The government of Sri Lanka has declared an Islandwide curfew from 1800hrs to 0600hrs following 8 blasts that hit the country leaving at least 138 people dead and 100 injured.
The attack happened at five-star Shangri La, Kingsbury and Cinnamon Grand hotels in the heart of Colombo, and also at the church where congregations were taking part in Easter Sunday services.
Reports shows that the death toll could rise significantly as hospitals report casualty figures.
According to BBC, the Sri Lanka Muslim council condemned the attack on places of worship “of our christian brothers and sisters on their holy day of Easter, as well as on the hotels of Colombo.”
The first bomb took place at St. Anthony church, killing at least 30 people.
Reuters reported that the government clamped down on messaging services, however, the BBC has admitted receiving some social media messages concerning the incident.
An Eighth blast was reported at the district of Dematagoda, Colombo, being the latest blast.
Security is tightened at the affected areas as police carry on with the investigations.
