Renown Presenter Maina Kageni alongside his co-host King’ang’i
have urged employees to be smart during salary negotiations.

Speaking during the Maina and King’ang’I morning show, Maina revealed
how he landed a huge salary when Classic 105’s boss wanted to poach him from
Nation FM.

When asked how much Nation was paying him, he said Ksh 120,
000 and yet he was earning Ksh 60,000 per month. His potential boss said he
would pay him Ksh 380,000.

On the other hand, King’ang’I shared on how his lack of
knowledge earned him a peanut salary. He explained that two of his friends
advised him not to be overambitious when asked how much pay he wanted.

Instead of stating a high figure, he said he was fine with
Ksh 10, 000, and his new employer offered him Ksh 20,000.

The two presenters advised employees to know their value. That
way, you are in a better position to negotiate for a better salary during interviews.
They also explained how crucial it is to be presentable when meeting potential future
bosses.
