TRANS NZOIA, Kenya – As the country warms up to the forthcoming elections, former Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha has clashed with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, accusing him of alleged incompetence.
news9.africa has established that Nakhumicha, the Permanent Representative to the UN-Habitat in Nairobi, is seeking to unseat Governor Natembeya through the August 10, 2027, General Election.

According to Nakhumicha, who was speaking in Motosiet, Cherany Constituency, on Friday, March 20, 2026, during a public engagement, she noticed that Trans Nzoia lacks a governor.
“Our roads are in poor condition. There are no medications in our hospitals. I have reviewed the Trans Nzoia County budget for this year and noticed that Governor Natembeya has stated that he has brought Sh 86 million to Motosiet. Nakhumicha asserted, “He has also written in his budget that he has built a very big hospital here near Cherangany Primary School.”
What should Trans Nzoia residents do in August 2027?
Nakhumicha believes that for Trans Nzoia to develop, its citizens need to choose a governor who is aware of their issues.
“You need to elect a governor who regularly interacts with the president to get him to increase funding for Trans Nzoia County.” She went on, “I think a woman can run this county because I’ve realised that women are better at organising their families.”
She urged the governor to bring up his development initiatives.
“Former Governor Patrick Khaemba built the Level 6 hospital you keep on mentioning. Khaemba also initiated the market, which you are currently unable to finish, even though the national government has set aside money to do so.”
Governor George Natembeya defends his track record
Nakhumicha attacked the governor, saying, “The governor has been given Sh 13 billion, but there is nothing tangible to show for it.”
Additionally, Nakhumicha asserted that the national government is Governor Natembeya’s exclusive preoccupation.
“And let him run for president if he has an interest in the national government and is strong enough.” He has been vanquished by Trans Nzoia’s problems. He is not motivated by Trans Nzoia’s interests. For this reason, I would like to run for governor of Trans Nzoia. I’m pleading with you, Motosiet residents, to recognise that Natembeya has lost his way and to feel sorry for me as well as for yourselves by electing a woman to guide you,” she continued.
However, Governor Natembeya asserted, without naming names, that some government sympathisers were insulting him while moving across this county.
“These individuals are aware that I am the only one remaining to protect Kenyans. When I assumed power, I found Trans Nzoia in the hole. What have those who aspire to be governors done for you?” he asked while speaking in Namwichula-Matumbei and Kapkomboi wards, where he presided over the free certified maize seed distribution initiative.
