TRANS NZOIA, Kenya – President William Ruto’s camp has hit out at the opposition as the country heads into an electioneering period.

Speaking in Kiminini Constituency on Thursday, October 1, during a development inspection tour of government projects in Trans Nzoia County, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen said the ruling coalition is yet to hit the ground for campaigns.
“Mambo bado! Hatutishwi sisi. Do we look like a team that can be shaken? Together with the President, we have a plan, badoo!” he remarked during the tour attended by News9.africa.
Murkomen’s remarks echoed an earlier message from President Ruto, reiterating that he cannot be defeated by the opposition and has not yet begun campaigning.
Ruto firmly stated that his opponents lack a meaningful manifesto for the country.
“Hawa nitawanyorosha asubuhi na mapema. These Linda sponsors and United nothing have no agenda and plan for the country,” he stated during a development tour of the South Rift Region.
The President further blasted his opponents for propagating divisive politics with no meaningful agenda for the country.
He firmly stated that the government will not tolerate attempts to divide a united nation through tribal politics.
Murkomen criticises George Natembeya’s government
The Interior CS called out Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya for denying residents development opportunities and for failing to work with the government.
“The only problem we have in this county is a leadership that is focused on division and tribalism. We cannot accept, as a people, a leadership that says Tawe development. We want Trans Nzoia to be on the table when development is being discussed,” Murkomen noted.
Highlighting the stalled Kenyatta Stadium, he noted that other counties are receiving development from the government.
CS Murkomen cited the Kiminini ASP Modern Market and similar markets in progress in Tugoin, Cherangani, and Endebess, as well as the affordable housing units in Kitale Town and Maili Tatu.
According to him, the projects have offered employment to more than 1,500 residents directly and another 1,500 indirectly, and are a source of livelihood for over 3,000 families.
He disclosed that the government has pumped KSh 2 billion and KSh 3 billion into affordable housing and markets, respectively.
“It is very unfortunate that neighbouring governors have sat with the President and sourced development. Kisumu, Bungoma, and Kakamega counties have operational stadiums. The governor is busy saying Tawe and Wantam, while others like Orengo are in talks with the government and have a stadium. As a sports county, we are fully disadvantaged,” he noted.
His visit comes months after Deputy President Kithure Kindiki visited the region assessing government programs, before the head of state’s visit to commission the projects.
Murkomen was in the company of Deputy Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli, Endebess lawmaker Robert Pukose, and Kiminini lawmaker Kakai Bissau.
