Gor Mahia players on Saturday April 13 slept on the floor of
Doha International Airport in Qatar.
Speaking to Goal.com,
one player said, “We were to leave for Morocco yesterday (Thursday) but on reaching
JKIA, we were shocked to find that the club had not secured tickets…”
Eventually, they had to travel in groups causing a lot of
confusion with Dennis Oliech losing his passport and missing the trip. Once they
arrived in Qatar, Gor players had to wait for a connecting flight to Morocco.
Another player revealed that, “We are currently resting on
the floor in the waiting room. Our flight is at 12.00midnight and the club says
it does not have money to book a resting room for us.”
On the contrary, one of Gor Mahia’s officials Sally Bollo has
accused the players of staging photographs. “They stage-managed those pictures,
looking for a scapegoat and you are cheering them. The team left Nairobi at
10am and landed in Doha at 4pm and they are already in the flight heading to Morocco.”
The club will be facing RS Berkane of Morocco at the CAF
Confederations cup quarter finals at 10pm.
However, the crucial question is if the players stage managed
the pictures, they did so as a scapegoat for what?
