Flamboyant business man Jared Otieno has been arrested over gold scam, after he surrendered to the Director of Criminal Investigation on Thursday.

According to DCI George Kinoti, Otieno’s arrest comes following Chinese national complaint that he and other gold traders defraud him of Sh300 million pretending to supply him with gold.

Kinoti said detectives seized Otieno’s Porsche and Bentley at his home in Karen, Nairobi.

“He has been arrested and we are looking for more suspects in this issue,” said Kinoti.

This is yet another time Otieno is being apprehended over a similar scandal.

In 2017, Mr. Otieno was arrested after several complaints from foreign nationals who accused him of conning them of huge sums of money amounting to more than Sh187 million.

Speaking to journalists after his surrender, Otieno said he’s ready for any action that will be taken.

“I don’t know what I have done but I have surrendered to the police. I am ready for any action for now,” he said.

Police said those arrested alongside Otieno will be in custody till investigations are complete.
