NAIROBI, Kenya – Israel Embassy in Nairobi, in partnership with the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK) and the Biblical Research Society of Israel have held the National Bible Trivia Competition 2026, aimed at enhancing environmental conservation through biblical teachings.

The competition held on Tuesday, November 3, at the Parklands Baptist Church, Westlands, attracted Christian leaders, clergy, guests and contestants from across Kenya for an engaging and educational experience that connects ancient biblical wisdom with contemporary environmental challenges.
This year’s theme, “Environmental Conservation – Lessons We Can Learn from the Old Testament,” sought to highlight the timeless wisdom of biblical teachings on environmental stewardship, conservation of natural resources, protection of biodiversity and humanity’s responsibility to care for God’s creation.
According to Israel Deputy Ambassador to Kenya Ariel Arviv, the learning competition also provides a unique platform to promote knowledge, faith, friendship and people-to-people connections while strengthening the longstanding partnership between Israel and Kenya.
“As the Embassy of Israel in Kenya, we decided to launch the National Bible Trivia in partnership with the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK). Every year in Israel, we celebrate our independence through Bible Trivia. It is a show that we stream live to young viewers, celebrating values, education and faith. We thought it would be a great initiative to bring the same celebration here in Kenya with our brothers and sisters from EAK.
“You can see the participants enjoying the process. The core principle that guided us throughout the different phases was accessibility for all. We are promoting education, faith and knowledge sharing,” said Arviv.
Tumela Agesa, one of the participants aged 13, said the competition is exciting and educational.
“I joined by applying through an app, thanks to my father, who told me I was good enough to participate because I love the Bible. Afterwards, I started winning, beginning with small victories. Now, here I am.
“It has been very nice, but also very challenging because they ask questions about things you may never have encountered in your entire life. However, it is very enjoyable,” said Agesa.
The deputy ambassador said the initiative will promote capacity building and knowledge transfer, in collaboration with EAK, which is an umbrella organisation representing many churches across Kenya.
“We certainly want to continue this initiative and hold another competition next year. This is just the beginning of Bible Trivia.
Interfaith dialogue on climate change
“We also want to establish more interfaith partnerships. Last week, we held an interfaith dialogue that brought together various ethnic and religious groups in Kenya. This is something we want to promote even further because, ultimately, we all share one goal.
“The theme and objective of today’s competition also touch on climate change and everyone’s responsibility in addressing the changes we are witnessing.
“We are still waiting for El Niño, and it has been a very dry season. We want to explore how faith can help us navigate the challenges we face in our daily lives,” she said.
