Safaricom appoints new CEO

Peter Ndegwa is the new Chief Executive Officer at Safaricom PLC.

In a statement released on Thursday, the company’s Board of
Directors Ndegwa’s appointment will take effect from April 1, 2020.

Ndegwa joins the telecommunication giant from Diageo PLC
where he serves as the Managing Director of Diageo Continental Europe.

The statement from Safaricom Chairperson Nicholas Nganga
reads in part, “Peter brings a wealth of experience in General Management,
Commercial and Business Strategy, Sales and Finance Operations…”

Currently, Ndegawa oversees operations of Diageo PLC in
50countries in Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and
Russia.
