Pain, agony is what Naomi Chepkemoi, a third year public health major at Pwani University Kilifi, is going through at the Kilifi Referral Hospital.

According to Kilifi County Commander Patrick Okeri, Naomi was stubbed several times by a man alleged to be the father of her child after an argument.

The man, who is said to have travelled all the way from Nairobi on Sunday, is under police custody.

“Our police officers were alerted by neighbours of the incident and when they rushed there the man had locked the house. Police had to forcibly gain entry and rescue the woman,” said Mr Okeri.

Reports further claim that the battle begun following the suspect’s quest to know why Naomi had returned Sh3,200 he had sent to her last week.

Mr Okeri added that Ms Chepkemoi told the man that her father asked her to end their relationship.

“The man travelled to Bomet where the child was with the woman’s parent and he was denied to access to his child and that’s when he decided to come to Mombasa to follow up on the issue with the woman,” said Mr Okeri.

This is barely a week after another varsity student was hacked to death in Eldoret.

Ivy Wangeci, a 26-year-old Moi University student pursuing medicine, was on Tuesday 9 April hacked to death by a man said to be her lover.

The main is also said to have travelled all the way from Meru to Eldoret where he meet Wangeci and hacked her mercilessly.

The man was beaten up by angry citizens and cheated death to the rescue of police. He is now in police custody.
