You must respect me, Evangelist James Ng’anga warns his bishops

The controversial televangelist James Maina Ng’ang’a has
warned bishops in charge of different branches of his Neno Evangelism
Ministries to respect him or else he will remove them from office.

In a video viewed by New9 Kenya that was aired on a local television
station, Ng’ang’a is heard ridiculing bishops and their wives for disrespecting
him and his wife and calls them rubbish (takataka).
He tells the bishops that they joined his church in tatters and their wives had
unkempt hair (matuta). He would call
them and they would respond fast, but after they got rich they now disrespect
him.

The bishop continues to say that being disrespectful has consequences
whereby he would close the branches and set up new ones reiterating that he will make a decision before October 20, 2019. He uses an example of a
member of parliament who was ousted from his political party. The evangelist
adds that he is the chief general commander who started preaching on a cart and
the devil has been fighting his ministry with stories in media.

Ng’ang’a has been in the headlines in the past after a hit and
run incident in Nairobi that involved his car. Recently, he was fined for
threatening to kill Citizen TV’s Linus Kaikai after the anchor suggested that
pastors should have academic qualifications to run churches.

 Kaikai said, “Former
Attorney General, Githu Mwigai proposed regulations that among other rules
required preachers to submit certificates of good conduct and their theological
training certificates so as to be licensed to run churches. These are the rules
Kenya must revisit in order to restore sanity in the peaching enterprise they
call it.”

The bishop’s anger led him to respond saying, “Kwanza
nashukuru wale ambao hawajui kusoma kwa sababu mbinguni hatuendi na masomo.
Hakuna degree itapima milango ya mbinguni…”

He added“… I am telling you like a Chief General Commander,
you have to stop that. Kama umeingia line ya Ng’ang’a, my friend you will face
the consequences. I can’t hide you but you can hide me. Wewe utakimbia tu.”
