Nairobi, Kenya – President William Samoei Ruto has declared that there will be no excuse for not performing in his administration.
Ruto boldly declared himself the most accomplished and qualified leader in Kenya’s history, citing his rich political career, academic achievements, and youthful energy as pillars of his leadership.
Speaking at State House, Nairobi, during a meeting with leaders from Tharaka Nithi County, on Monday, August 4, the Head of State said his combination of experience and education leaves him with “no excuse” but to deliver results for the Kenyan people.
“I served as a Member of Parliament for 15 years and as Deputy President for 10. I’m still energetic, not old. And let’s not forget Kenya has never had a President with a PhD before. That’s me,” Ruto said.
Reflecting on his rise from a humble background, Ruto reminded his audience of his journey from selling chicken by the roadside to leading the nation. He said his life experience has given him a grounded understanding of the everyday struggles faced by Kenyans.
“I was born and raised in the grassroots. I understand what ordinary Kenyans go through. With my education, experience and knowledge, I cannot afford to fail. I must perform,” he said.
In a rare moment of political reflection, the President said he draws strength from the qualities of all four of Kenya’s previous leaders.
“I have Jomo’s courage, Moi’s understanding, Kibaki’s education and a shared plan with Uhuru Kenyatta. I’ve served as an MP for 15 years and DP for 10 years.Isn’t that enough experience? I have no excuse. With my knowledge and background, i must take on this tough job. Kenya has never had such an opportunity before,”he told the Nithi leaders.
As part of his commitment to infrastructure development, Ruto announced the long-awaited reconstruction of the deadly Nithi Bridge. The bridge, known for its sharp bends and tragic accident history since 1985, will receive a complete redesign.
“The redesign is ready and well done. The new bridge will cost KSh 7 billion. Procurement begins tomorrow. The dangerous curves are gone in the new plan and we must finish this project before the next election,” he said.
Ruto also stood firm on his much-debated Affordable Housing program, calling it one of the most courageous but necessary decisions of his presidency. According to him, the initiative will fundamentally reshape the country’s future.
“It’s only been two years. Just wait. In five, ten, twenty years, you won’t believe what Kenya will look like,” the President said confidently.
