All MPESA services have been restored hours after customers were unable to make transactions.
Safaricom users were unable to make MPESA transactions from the mid-morning hours of the day but the services have now been restored after hours of inconvenience for customers.
Safaricom has apologized for the inconvenience.
Subscribers were unable to pay for goods and services, buy airtime, and conduct other transactions through MPESA during the affected hours.
One customer tried buying airtime but received a message saying,
“M-PESA is currently unable to process your request. Please try again later.”
Others were told the service was ‘under maintenance’.
MPESA is a popular innovation in the country with millions of Kenyans using it in various industries in the country, including bank transactions, paying bills, and paying for goods and services.
The technical hitch also affected businesses as clients were unable to make payments.
