ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru urge private sector to outsource online jobs for youth

Information and Communication Technology Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has called upon the private sector, especially the micro-entreprise owners to embrace technology as a source for job creation to youth.

In a statement read by Engineer John Tanui during the 3rd Smart Duka Retail Stakeholders Summit held at the Villa Rosa Kempinski on Thursday, Mucheru said that if micro-entreprises are empowered to grow to the age of information technology, the economy will grow.

“The Informal sector has increased employment opportunities in the country and if grown to the next level it will increase the country’s income revenue.” said CS Mucheru.

The CS said the informal sector contributes to about 70% of revenue adding that his ministry is working hard to enhance technology in the retail sector.

He added that the government has implemented policies which can support the micro-enterprise sector in this error of technology.

Engineer Tanui, who oversight on Konza techno city project, said the ministry has committed all the projects laid down to realize Konza flagship plan come to a success.

The summit was hosted by the International development non-profit organization TechnoServe, Citi Foundation and the Elea Foundation for Ethics in Globalization.

Smart Duka is a project ngineered by Technoserve to empower and grow small business and entreprises.

The project was initiated in Kenya and has grown to three more countries in Africa, including Tanzania, Ivory Coast and Nigeria.
