Nairobi, Kenya – Leading real estate company Username Investments has officially launched Username Sacco.

The new digital-first financial institution aims to empower young Kenyans to access affordable financing and property ownership.
Why Username Sacco?
The launch, held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, marked a major milestone for the company after more than a decade of helping thousands of Kenyans acquire land.
Username Sacco Chairman Reuben Kimani described the new venture as the next chapter in the company’s mission to make homeownership accessible for all.
“As we celebrate the launch today, we recognise the continuation of the Username journey that began 13 years ago. We soon realised that making land affordable is only one part of the journey, because many Kenyans still struggle with financing.
Today, we are not just launching a Sacco; we are launching a movement,” said Kimani during the launch attended by News Nine.
Kimani emphasised that the Sacco would uphold the same values of trust, integrity, and customer care that have defined the real estate brand.
Username Sacco CEO Sarah Wahogo outlined the institution’s vision for a modern, technology-driven cooperative.
“The big idea is to build a progressive, future-ready financial institution,” she said, noting that registration costs just KSh 1,000 and can be completed entirely online.
“You do not need to visit the Sacco offices in person to transact. This is a Sacco for a generation that lives on its smartphones,” the CEO added.
Username Sacco loan products
Wahogo introduced the Sacco’s flagship Property Loan, which allows members to buy land with as little as a 5% deposit and repay the balance over 36 months– without the need for guarantors.
Instead, the property itself serves as security, making the process faster and more affordable.
“Every time we talk about a Sacco, the question of guarantors arises. The world is tough, and few people want to guarantee another person. We are addressing a gap that has existed in the market,” she explained.
The launch received endorsement from Dolphine Aremo, Nairobi County Director of Cooperatives, who praised Username Sacco’s innovation and youth-focused approach.
“Kenya ranks first in Africa for cooperatives and seventh globally. I look forward to welcoming you to the club of billionaire SACCOs,” Aremo said.
