Lucky Dube made in clear that a man’s ‘root’ is the best
source of life –going back to my roots. Well this year’s Madaraka day
celebrations came to many a surprise as the long forgotten voices were
articulated, more so to the lovers of radio.

It all begun here, Friday the 31st of May, when
the forgotten journalist and presenter posted on his social media account, ‘Back to my specialty as June opens its
doors. Happy Madaraka day to you all.’

Many did not really get the meaning Joshua Araap Sang,
former head of operations at Kass FM –a radio station broadcasting in in
Kalenjin dialect, was driving it.

It all dawned nine years after resigning from Kass
International media, following the International Criminal Court cases against
humanity Sang was facing, and the embattled journalist has decided to come back
to radio broadcasting.

Emoo FM, a Kalenjing language broadcasting radio channel
owned by Mediamax Network Ltd confirmed that Sang will be hosting a show
between 6:00 am – 10 am Monday to Friday, starting mid-June.

“Emoo fm family takes this opportunity to officially welcome
on board Mr. Joshua Araap Sang…” read part of a message from Emoo FM head Daisy
Rotino Kibet.

Lessons

Mr. Sang also confirmed this on his facebook account saying
that he has already reported to work but ‘will be on air in two weeks’ time.’

He has led a silent nine-years-life since he was indicted
with crimes against humanity at the Hague. But the 44-year-old has been adamant
that life is worth giving.

“If you have more than
enough assist..,” declares Sang on a facebook post dated May 28.

After trying out politics in 2017, which did not favour his
‘spirited hand’, Sang did not give up his spirit of hope and faith, building
this at the the AIC Milimani church in Nairobi.

ICC cases

The journalist was charged at the ICC following the 2007/8
post election violence, which led to loose of thousands of lives and displacement.

Sang was among the six suspects, commonly known as Ocampo six, but later his charges were
dismissed in 2016 due to lack of evidence.

He was charged alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta, his
deputy Dr. William Ruto and among others.

In November 2018, reports emerged that ICC is still pursuing
the Kenyan cases, citing pursuit of witness effect to the evidence which
resulted to the dismissal of the case.

With William Ruto aiming high at the race to State house in
2022, is Sang comeback meaningful to his campaign strategy?
