Azimio One Kenya Coalition party leader Raila Odinga has called on international investigative agencies to take lead in the investigations involving the sudden death of lawyer Paul Gicheru.
Gicheru died at his home in Karen Nairobi on Tuesday, September 28 after complaining of sudden illness.
In a condolence message to the family on Wednesday, September 28, Raila noted that Gicheru’s death is among a series of unexplained deaths happening in the country.
ICC case
Raila called for a thorough and credible investigations to uncover the circumstances that saw the law lose his life and his son rushed to the hospital.
“Mr. Gicheru’s death comes in the wake of others who have been associated with ICC cases, especially high profile witnesses. This pattern of mysterious and unexplained death is extremely disturbing.
“We call upon international investigative agencies such as the Interpol to lead the probe,” said Raila.
He noted that Kenya is a party to the ICC statue and should cooperate fully with the investigations touching on the ICC cases.
Gicheru was charged with witness interference in the case involving the 2007-2008 post election violence and was awaiting judgement.
