President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday led Kenyans in
mourning the sudden death of renown Swahili author Ken Walibora.

Pro. Walibora is said to have succumbed to injuries,
following Friday’s road accident, involving his car and a matatu, along Ladhies
road, Nairobi.

President Kenyatta has condoled with the family of
celebrated Kenyan Kiswahili scholar, author and journalist, describing him as a
polished broadcaster and prolific writer “whose literary works will continue to
inspire future generations.”

“We are heartbroken by the passing away of Prof Ken Walibora
Waliaula. He was an outstanding academic, ingenious author and a prolific
journalist with a charming personality and humour,” said Deputy President
William Ruto in a twit.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga wrote on his twitter handle, “My
condolences go out to the family of Kiswahili Author and distinguished
Journalist Professor Ken Walibora. He penned great literary works that will
remain etched in the memories of many. May the Lord grant his family comfort at
this trying moment and may his Soul Rest In Peace.”

Celebrated comedian Churchill explained how Ken Walibora
inspired him to be who he is today.

“Kenya National Theatre…my debut into the acting world was
this set book..Siku Njema by Prof. Ken Walibora…safiri salama Prof..,” read
part of the twit by Churchill.

Ken Walibora authored a number of literary Swahili books,
including Siku Njema and Kidagaa, which have been key in the Kenyan Education.

Police have launched investigations into the incidence,
adding that they have launched a man hunt for the matatu driver.
