KISII, Kenya – Youthful nominated senator Esther Okenyuri has received accolades after standing in solidarity with newly rebranded Shabana Starlets FC.

Shabana Starlets FC held their open trials from Friday, August 8, 2025, at Gusii Stadium.

The club is currently participating in the Women’s National Super League and has been on a recruitment spree for new talent.

All trialists were required to go with their original ID card or birth certificate for verification.

“Beginning next season, Kisii Queens FC will officially be known as Shabana Starlets FC, following a complete name change,” Football Kenya Federation (FKF) said in a statement.

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, Okenyuri, a Specially Elected Senator, joined the club as it unveiled its kits for the Women’s National Super League 2025/2026 season.
