The National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) registration exercise will be entering the third day today even as Tuesday and Wednesday recorded hiccups from different parts of the country.
In Kisumu, the registration centres remained locked even as residents turned to have their biometric data recorded.
And today (Thursday), the exercise is expected to resume as planned after some documents reported to have missed were recovered by the Kisumu County Commissioner Pauline Dola.
Dola said that the exercise could not have commenced without the crucial documents.
In some other parts of the country, registration centres recorded low turn out from the public.
In Machakos County, a letter alleged to have originated from the CDC warned all county civil servants to have registered for the number, not late than April 20 or risk missing their May pay.
However, Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua dismissed the claims in the letter, telling Machakos residents and workers to disregard it.
“I spend the whole day talking about privacy, security… people should disregard that letter, it is misleading. We have launched investigations and we will come to the root source of the letter.” said Mutua.
He added that the Huduma Namba registration “should not be imposed” and people should not be forced to register.
“People should not be forced to register for the Hudama number, they will just join in after seeing its benefits.” said the Governor.
President Uhuru Kenyatta launched the registration exercise in Machakos county on Tuesday, where he received his Huduma Namba at Masii Public Grounds.
