The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists’ Union (KMPDU) has announced a change in the date for the planned demonstration in Kiambu County, moving it from Wednesday, October 8, 2025, to Monday, October 13, 2025.
In a statement released by the union’s Secretary General and CEO, Dr. Davji Bhimji Atellah, the adjustment aims to ensure broader participation, effective coordination and meaningful engagement with stakeholders.
The demonstration is part of the union’s ongoing campaign to demand better working conditions, accountability and improved healthcare delivery for Kenyans.
“This adjustment is intended to ensure broader participation, effective coordination, and meaningful engagement with all relevant stakeholders as we continue to demand accountability and dignified working conditions for doctors, as well as quality healthcare for all Kenyans,” the statement read in part.
KMPDU emphasized that the demonstration remains a crucial part of its advocacy efforts to push for fair treatment of healthcare workers, timely remuneration and improved hospital facilities across the country. The union reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to defending the rights of medical professionals and maintaining high standards of service to the nation.
The letter, referenced KMPDU/LT/338/2025, was addressed to all stakeholders, members and partners, urging them to take note of the new date. The union also assured that further details regarding logistics and mobilization will be communicated in due course.
KMPDU’s leadership, including National Chairman Dr. Abi Mwach, National Treasurer Dr. Mercy Nabwire and Deputy Secretary General Dr. Miskellah Dennis, have reiterated their dedication to championing for doctors’ rights and ensuring the government fulfills its obligations to healthcare workers.
Over the past months, KMPDU has intensified its push for better working environments, citing long working hours, poor remuneration and inadequate medical supplies in public hospitals. The union maintains that addressing these concerns is vital to strengthening Kenya’s healthcare system and improving service delivery to citizens.
The demonstration in Kiambu is expected to draw participation from healthcare professionals across various counties, signaling continued solidarity within the medical fraternity.
