A bride from Bomet who did not show up on her wedding day in order to make up her mind has come out to set the record straight after trending on X (formerly Twitter).
23-year-old Nelly Chepkoech has been trending on X over the weekend with netizens coming up with all kinds of speculations, including her going back to her rich ex-boyfriend.
Chepkoech has come out to defend herself against the allegations on social media.
In a video seen by News 9 Kenya, she said, “The wedding was not canceled; it has been postponed. The reverend said that was the case because some letters were lacking.”
She added, “We were very excited about our wedding and were looking forward to it. There has been speculation online about me disappearing, but that is not true. I am home with my family and many other people.”
On Saturday, December 9, Chepkoech’s story made rounds on social media with netizens chiming in on the issue.
The groom speaks
On the other hand, the groom Amos Rono has come out to tell his side of the story, which contradicts the bride’s statement.
Speaking to Standard Digital, Rono has said, “I forgive her…I don’t hold anything against her and wish her well wherever she goes. I cannot get back with her. She told me she had another man. That is why the wedding did not happen.”
Rono added “I appreciate her father because he was supportive of our wedding and wanted it to go well.”
However, Rono’s mother said she cannot allow Chepkoech back if she ever decides to connect with Rono.
“Chepkemoi said she was young and not ready to be married. If she comes back, I will not allow her into my home,” Rono’s mother explained.
