NAIROBI, Kenya – Radisson Hotel Group has appointed Clinton Thom as General Manager of Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi Upper Hill, reinforcing the group’s commitment to deepening its leadership capacity across East Africa’s key hospitality markets.
A seasoned hotelier, Thom brings more than 20 years of experience managing high-performing properties across South Africa.
He most recently served as General Manager at Radisson Collection Hotel, Waterfront Cape Town, where he led the brand’s successful repositioning from Radisson Blu and oversaw a partial refurbishment completed earlier this year.
During his six-year tenure, the Cape Town property achieved its highest-ever food and beverage revenues, ranked among the leaders in its competitive set for Revenue Generation Index (RGI), and recorded a Customer Quality Index (CQI) score above 100.
The hotel also remained fully operational throughout the COVID-19 pandemic without staff retrenchments — a rare feat in the global hospitality sector.
“We are delighted that, after an illustrious career with Radisson Hotel Group, Clinton continues to share his knowledge and passion with our colleagues at Radisson Blu Nairobi Upper Hill,” said Sandra Kneubuhler, Radisson Hotel Group’s Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa.
Radisson Blu is an upper upscale hotel brand that delivers meaningful and memorable experiences in stylish spaces.
What is Clinton Thom’s career background
Thom has previously served as General Manager at Park Inn by Radisson Newlands, Radisson Blu Le Vendome, and Three Cities Exceptional Hotels and Safari Lodges.
He began his career in operations and held key roles in revenue management, food and beverage, and the rooms division.
He now leads the 271-room Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi Upper Hill, a prominent business and conferencing hotel in the Kenyan capital.
The property includes 14 meeting rooms, a 590-square-metre ballroom, and four food and beverage outlets, serving a clientele primarily focused on corporate travel and the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segment.
“I look forward to working closely with the team to drive operational excellence, enhance guest satisfaction, and contribute to Nairobi’s continued growth as a regional business hub,” Thom said.
