Atleast 13 pupils have been reported
dead following a stampede at Kakamega Primary School on Monday, with over
thirty pupils being rushed to Kakamega County Referral Hospital after
sustaining injuries. Kakamega Central Police commander, David Kabena, has
confirmed the incident.
This happened as the pupils were
dashing out of there classes when the bell rang. The cause of the stampede is
yet to be established.

Residents rushed to the school to
help get the injured students to the hospital as some have been reported to
have fallen from as heights high as the third floor of the building.
ODM leader,Raila Odinga among other leaders have
sent their messages of condolence to the families of the pupils who perished
during the incident in a post shared on his twitter handle… ‘My heartfelt condolences to parents
that have lost loved ones in the unfortunate and regrettable tragedy at
Kakamega Primary School. I wish a quick recovery to the injured children and
pray that God grant strength to the affected families.’
