Wajir County joins the league of counties affected by the
novel coronavirus, after one person from the county turned out to be among the
12 who tested positive on Thursday.

The remaining 11 cases come from the counties of Nairobi,
Mombasa and Kitui with each recording 3, 7, and 1 cases respectively.

This brings to total 396 number of coronavirus infections in
the country.

The Nairobi cases are from Eastleigh, Fedha and Kileleshwa.

The number of recoveries also continue to rise as the
ministry discharged 15 patients, bring to total 144.

Chief Administrative Secretary for health Dr. Rashid Aman
said the government will be working closely recovered covid-19 patients, to
reduce the rate of social stigma.

Meanwhile, two patients lost their lives bring the total the
number fatalities in the country to 17.

The CAS called upon Kenyans to look forward to keeping the
virus at bay, in the coming month of May.

“As we cross into the month, let us strengthen our
resolve against the virus. We will not allow any distractions…,” he said.

A total of 777 samples were tested in the last 24 hours,
bringing to total 20,268 samples tested since March.

CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi said on Wednesday that the
government has set plans to identify the virus new breeding ground, and move in
to sensitize the public.

Dr. Mercy added that a surveillance team will be set to mark
areas, citing Kawangware market, to sensitize the public on how to wear face
masks, and proper use hand sanitizers, with social distancing among other
things.
