The Football Federation of Kenya (FKF) election bid is still
rife with aspirants calling for fresh registration of clubs.
FKF Western Branch chairman Andrew Amukowa, who has joined
hands with Nicholas Musonye, has called for the registration of all the
clubs afresh so as to avoid ghost clubs that may negatively influence the election
outcomes.
“All the existing clubs should be allowed to register so as
to be counted and that any ghost club that had been lined up should be stopped
if we want free and fair exercise,” said Amukowa.
He called upon other like-minded aspirants to back up
Nicholas Musonye for he has what it takes to steer FKF.
“We are behind Musonye and this time we are not joking
around. He has a clean sheet in the Cecafa body where he has served for years.
His experience should be applied in cleaning and strengthening our football
federation.
“He has already talked to me and there is good will and so
what should be done is meeting other like-minded souls who will throw their
weight behind him,”
Other FKF presidential aspirants are Sam Nyamweya, Moses
Akaranga, Alex Ole Magwelo, Harun Shivachi and Cosmus Nabongolo.
The Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) ruled in March that the Football
Kenya Federation has no mandate to run the National Elections, asking the world
football governing body (FIFA) to appoint a normalization committee, which will
ensure elections are held democratically.
However, FIFA rejected the proposal, a move that has seen
Nick Mwendwa remain in office until the elections are held.
