NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce (KNCCI) has partnered with the Big 5 Construct Kenya, the largest construction exhibition in Kenya and the East African region.

KNCCI director Nancy Muthoni, host of The Property Show with Nancy, said the chamber will partner with Big 5 Construct Kenya for its annual conference, dubbed the Africa Commerce and Industry Summit (ACIS).

“Today is a great day, and especially for Kenya and for the industry, to tell you that the industry has gone to the next level. When you see international investors coming to have a conversation with us, it says we are doing something right.

“We have partnered with Big 5 Construct Kenya, who are going to be our main partners next year to bring in all the construction companies into our programme. But more importantly, we are having B2B meetings with international companies. We are doing deal-making with international companies,” said Muthoni, while addressing the media during the launch of the three-day Big 5 Construct Kenya expo, at Sarit Centre, on Wednesday, October 21.

Why KNCCI is partnering with Big 5 Construct

KNCCI President Dr Erick Rutto applauded the partnership, noting that the collaboration will improve and build a vibrant business environment.

“We have talked to the exhibitors who are here, and they are very much interested in doing business-to-business market-making, to be able to get Kenyan companies.

“We have over 60,000 members of the Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and part of them are in the building and construction industry. We have over 27,000 engineers in Kenya who are in that environment of trade and construction. With that kind of network, as the Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry, our main interest is to improve trade between ourselves and these 25 countries,” said Dr Rutto.

Josine Heijmans, Senior Vice President at DMG Events, the organisers of Big 5 Construct Kenya, said the collaboration is a great opportunity for the industry and stakeholders, who will directly engage with industry experts, learn from case studies, and support the industry moving forward.

“We are absolutely very grateful to also have the support of the Chamber of Commerce and being present with us here today. Because, as mentioned, many international stakeholders want to be part of the opportunities in the Kenyan industry,” said Heijmans.
