The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) has appointed KK Mutahi as the organisation’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective December 1, 2025.

Mutahi has been serving as the CEO in an acting capacity for the past six months and brings over 20 years of experience in corporate management in the energy and retail sectors.
Mutahi expressed gratitude for being confirmed into the role, highlighting the crucial part the institution plays in the country.
“The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry has built a strong foundation of a long history of advocacy, partnerships and public-private sector collaboration. I am honored to lead this premier institution with its talented team,” he remarked.
In his new role, he will focus on the organisation’s processes, re-engineering and improving advocacy initiatives by the chamber.
“I look forward to working together to re-engineer the chamber’s internal processes to deliver on our shared strategic vision for a prosperous Kenyan business community. Together, we will build on the organisation’s legacy and unlock new opportunities in local, regional and international space,” he elaborated.
A warm welcome
On his part, the Chamber President, Erick Rutto, welcomed Mutahi into his confirmed position, expressing confidence in the CEO’s ability to lead the organisation into the future.

Mutahi’s expertise comes with a proven track record of organisational leadership, trade facilitation, investment advocacy, and strategic partnerships and acquisitions to drive economic growth and private sector empowerment.
Mutahi’s past achievements
Mutahi has worked in various management positions, including Kenolkobil (now Rubis), where he served as the Country Retail Manager.
Additionally, he has worked as the Chairman of the Chamber Presidential Delivery Unit and County Empowerment. In this role, he coordinated the implementation of the Chamber President’s flagship programs and monitored key development priorities across the 47 county chambers.
The chamber’s new CEO has previously been the Vice Chairman of the KNCCI Meru County Chapter and was Nairobi County Chapter Manager from 2014 to 2017 and 2019-2021, respectively.
The Role of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI)
The Kenya Chamber of Commerce and Industry advocates for the creation of a favourable commercial, trade, and investment environment that supports the expansion of enterprises.
It does so by promoting, coordinating and protecting commercial and industrial interests to its members and Kenya in general. It also fosters trade within the country and outside, and establishes and organises finance, trade and industrial exhibitions and displays.
Additional functions of the chamber include promoting social unity and welfare of the commercial and industrial community, collecting and disseminating statistical sound information to members, and arbitrating in the settlement of commercial disputes.
Members of KNCCI include small, micro enterprises (MSEs), medium and large enterprises.
