NAIROBI, Kenya – The construction of Silva Gigiri, a luxury residential building at the heart of Nairobi’s diplomatic hub, has begun.
According to Mohamed Bishar, Kenya’s real estate entrepreneur behind the KSh 2 billion project, the building will be completed in a period of 30 to 36 months.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony attended by news9.africa on Friday, July 17, Bishar said the dream of Silva Gigiri, which was born three to four months ago, could soon be a reality.
“We did a project launch like three to four months ago… and we are looking at a completion timeline of 30 to 36 months. Hopefully, we will do better than that,” said Bishar.
The young real estate developer affirmed that the project remains vital in the country’s economic growth, noting that it will create jobs to thousands of youths.
“We are trying to change the mindset that Kenya cannot do this or that. I am proud to be a local Kenyan youth entrepreneur and to bring this idea to life. What we have learned from international standards is to uplift our team and create jobs and, you know, be part of the Vision 2030 and contribute to the high demand of the UN and diplomatic help that we get,” he noted.
Partnership with Gulf Hotel
Bishar acknowledged the support extended by foreign investors, including the Gulf Group of Hotels, to the project.
“Gulf Hotels Group is one of the leading hospitality experts in the Middle East. It is an honour to have them here today. And of course, they have been in Africa.
“I have been to over 70 countries, so we bring experience. If you look even at our show house and mock-up rooms and the samples, you see the difference. It’s an international standard, that is why we have international partners,” said Bishar.
Gulf Hotels Group Business Development Director Majd Hamamouchi said the partnership brings in experience in management and operations spanning more than five decades.
“Gulf Hotel Group will manage and operate; we bring our expertise. We have been in the market since 1969. We are a company backed by the Sovereign Fund in Bahrain, and we are happy to collaborate with Mr Bishar on this beautiful project. From management training to day-to-day operations, to identify the suitable brand for this project and to bring it to life,” said Hamamouchi.
Silva Gigiri’s standards
The building is expected to adopt environmentally friendly standards, redefining real estate development in the country.
Earlier, Silva Gigiri Managing Director, Mohamed Bishar, noted that the core pillar of the 182-unit building is its ambitious environmental strategy.
Bishar announced that the development is actively pursuing Gold LEED certification from the US Green Building Council – a rare achievement for local East African real estate.
