Kenyan actor and TV personality Martin Githinji, popularly known as Daddie Marto, has finally broken his silence regarding his much-publicized separation from fellow entertainer and wife Christine Koku Lwanga. After months of online speculation and intense scrutiny, Marto released a detailed statement aiming to clarify the events that led to the fallout and defend his reputation, which he says has been unfairly tarnished.

Central to Marto’s message was a recent incident that took place at his home. He recounted being confronted at his doorstep while in the company of a friend. As tensions quickly escalated, Marto said he chose to record the interaction, something he explained he had been advised to do in therapy when facing emotionally intense situations. According to him, the situation took a turn for the worse and allegedly became physical, leaving him with an injury to his eye. He was quick to emphasize that the event was isolated and not reflective of the nature of their relationship, which he described as having no prior history of violence. He confirmed that the matter is currently under investigation by the police.

In his statement, Marto expressed deep concern over how he has been portrayed since that night. He claimed that online narratives have painted him as violent, abusive, manipulative, and irresponsible, labels he strongly rejects. According to him, these characterizations are not only false but deeply damaging, especially considering the sensitivity of the ongoing situation. He insisted that public perception has been skewed by misleading accounts and assured the public that the full truth will eventually come to light. “Since that night, I have been portrayed in ways that suggest I am someone I am not. Nothing could be further from the truth,” he wrote.

Marto acknowledged that every relationship has its challenges and admitted that he, too, has made mistakes. However, he made it clear that he would not accept blame for things he did not do. In his words, taking responsibility should not mean erasing one’s truth to accommodate false narratives. “I take full responsibility for my part, but I will not carry what is not mine. That is not healing, that is self-erasure,” he stated.

As part of his response to the allegations and online backlash, Marto revealed that he has taken legal action. He said his lawyers are now handling the case with the aim of addressing defamation and harmful content spread about him on social media. He expressed a desire for the matter to be handled respectfully and through the appropriate legal channels, without fueling further public drama.

TL;DR: I’ve stayed silent to protect my children, but persistent attacks & false claims have left me no choice but to speak. I reject all forms of abuse; the picture being painted of me is not who I am. Let the court of law decide. I remain committed to coparenting with dignity pic.twitter.com/UfgOGFtREv

Despite the emotional weight of the situation, Marto remained firm in his commitment to his children. He stressed that no matter what has happened between him and Koku, their roles as parents must remain grounded in mutual respect and a shared sense of duty to their children’s well-being. He expressed a desire to co-parent in a peaceful and mature manner, away from the noise and toxicity of online chatter.

The couple, once seen as one of Kenya’s most admired celebrity duos, had built a significant following both as partners and professionals. Their fans were especially fond of seeing them work together, including on a joint TV role that garnered much attention. For many, the news of their separation was both shocking and disheartening. The silence from both parties only added fuel to the speculation until now.

In his closing remarks, Marto described this as one of the most difficult seasons of his life but maintained that he is determined to come out of it with integrity and clarity. He said his focus now is on personal healing, protecting his children, and letting the legal process take its course. Without bitterness, he called for understanding and respect from the public, urging people not to rush to judge before knowing the full story.
