Comedian and activist Eric Omondi melted hearts on Wednesday, August 6, after sharing a tender tribute to his daughter, Kyla, as she turned two.
Taking to his Instagram page, the proud father captured sweet moments of his little girl seated at a miniature white piano, gazing innocently into the camera.
Kyla, whom Eric shares with his partner Lynne Njihia, has remained largely out of the limelight but her special day was the perfect reason for Omondi to let the world in on the deep love he holds for her.
“You are the reason I work so hard, my love. You are the reason I fight so hard,” Eric wrote in a touching message that accompanied the photos.
“I pray for you every day that God may protect you, keep you, and make His face shine on you.”
He didn’t stop there. In a beautiful fatherly prayer, Eric went on to declare blessings over his daughter’s future: “His hand be upon you, that you may live a long, fruitful, successful, fulfilling, and happy life. I love you, baby. Happy 2nd birthday,”the proud father stated.
The post, full of emotion and spiritual warmth, resonated deeply with Kenyans online. Social media was flooded with love for Kyla as fans, friends and fellow parents sent in birthday wishes and praised Eric’s devotion.
One user wrote, “Eric’s blessings will follow the baby, too. Happy birthday, Toto.”
Another encouraged him to expand his young family: “Please, Eric, I beg you, add two more babies. The blessings God has for you will overwhelm this angel. Give her two siblings. The earlier, the better.”
Others showered the little girl with heartfelt prayers and admiration.
“A blessed girl now and for several generations after her, and no devil in hell will counter that. Happy birthday, beautiful girl,” one commenter posted.
This touching celebration of Kyla’s birthday wasn’t the only time Eric has been in the spotlight for his compassion.
Just days earlier, he had captured national attention after stepping in to help a struggling family from Githurai. The family’s story came to light thanks to actress Dorea Chege and her partner, DJ Dibull, who revealed the plight of Millicent Maina, a mother bedridden for four years and cared for solely by her two young sons.
Eric was visibly moved upon visiting their home, where he found the elder son, just 11 years old, managing his mother’s oxygen machine. Without hesitation, Eric rallied his fans and launched a fundraising campaign to support the family’s urgent needs.
He later accompanied the boys, Simon and Sammy to their school, where they received a warm welcome. Eric gifted Simon, who dreams of becoming a doctor, with a stethoscope to inspire him on his journey.
In his typical humble fashion, Eric used the opportunity to shine the spotlight on others, thanking Dorea and DJ Dibull for raising awareness about the family’s situation. He also encouraged the public to continue supporting the family and urged that the boys receive counselling to help them process their emotional trauma.
From doting father to social changemaker, Eric Omondi continues to prove that beneath the jokes and activism is a man deeply committed to love in all its forms.
