ANTWERP, Belgium – Trailblazing singer Sofiya Nzau is making history as the first Kenyan artist to perform at Europe’s Tomorrowland electronic music dance festival, one of the most iconic stages in global music.

Sofiya is set to share the spotlight this weekend in Belgium with dance music legend Steve Aoki, marking a monumental moment for African representation in the global electronic scene and a defining milestone in her skyrocketing career.

News 9 Kenya has established that her landmark performance takes place during Sofiya’s first official European tour since the release of her global smash hit, Mwaki, which has now amassed over 300 million streams on Spotify alone, continuing to captivate audiences worldwide.

“This has been an amazing experience and a life-changing moment for me to perform for my fans in Europe. This is where my music is mostly listened to, and feeling that love in person has been truly humbling,” said Sofiya, ahead of her next stop in Germany.

Where did Sofiya Nzau’s European tour begin

With her powerful voice and genre-bending sound, Sofiya has emerged as one of the most exciting voices in contemporary global music.

Her tour began with a sold-out show at Thuishaven in Amsterdam, where Sofiya delivered a stunning and emotional performance to an electrified crowd. Sofiya’s fusion of African vocals and electronic rhythms brought the venue to life, leaving fans deeply moved. She followed up with a performance at Club Panache in Enschede, where the energy and support from fans were equally overwhelming, a testament to her fast-growing and huge fan base across Europe.

News 9 Kenya understands that up next is her highly anticipated set at Open Beatz Festival in Germany, another sold-out event expected to draw over 15,000 fans. Germany, where Sofiya enjoys her largest Spotify audience, has been central to her global breakout. Her collaboration with German producer Avaion, titled Wacuka, recently crossed 60 million streams on Spotify, further anchoring her popularity in the region.
