The situation
in Tanzania seems to be taking a different course as the country tries to avert
the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

Tanzania’s
ministry of health Ummy Mwalimu on Friday confirmed 53 new cases of covid19 in
the country.

The numbers bring
to total 147 confirmed cases, as the country records the highest number in a
single day since it reported her first case.

Dar es Slam
has recorded 38 of the 53, 10 from Zanzibar while Kilimanjaro, Pwani, Lindi and
Kagera have recorded 1 case each.

All the
cases are from the cities general population.

The country
has so far recorded 5 deaths and 11 recoveries.

Honourable
Mwalimu in a statement to newsrooms stated that the patients have already been
put under treatment and contact tracing is underway for the persons who came
into close contact with the victims.

Tanzania’s
president John Pombe Magufuli recently urged Tanzanians to pray individually
for the country in a bid to beat the pandemic which has caused turmoil and
panic across the globe.

The huge
number of new cases in a day draws an indication that the country is yet to
attain it’s peak in terms of infections.

The
president has been urged to consider drafting tougher measures to curb the
numbers from skyrocketing.
