Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri has issued a strong warning to all Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel against engaging in fraudulent activities during the ongoing recruitment exercise.
Speaking during his tour of Moi Barracks, Eldoret, to assess preparations for this year’s KDF Day celebrations, General Kahariri said any soldier found colluding with fraudsters or extorting money from members of the public under the guise of offering recruitment opportunities would face immediate dismissal without benefits.
“Transparency in this year’s recruitment will enhance public trust and confidence in the Kenya Defence Forces. A fair, credible and merit-based process will ensure that only the most qualified and dependable young men and women join our ranks,” said General Kahariri.
He emphasized that the KDF recruitment process is entirely free of charge, transparent, and guided by the rule of law. The CDF reminded service members that integrity and discipline remain the foundation of military service, warning that the Forces would not tolerate any actions that compromise its credibility.
“The Kenya Defence Forces will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against any officer who undermines the integrity of our recruitment process,” he added.
General Kahariri also urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious individuals or impostors purporting to secure recruitment slots for a fee. He assured Kenyans that KDF, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, is closely monitoring the process to ensure fairness and eliminate corruption.

Beyond recruitment matters, the CDF highlighted the importance of Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) as a critical link between the armed forces and the civilian population.
He noted that through initiatives in healthcare, water provision and education, KDF continues to play a vital role in promoting national development and strengthening trust with local communities.
“Civil-Military Cooperation remains at the heart of our service to the nation. We are not only protectors of Kenya’s borders but also partners in improving the lives of our citizens,” General Kahariri stated.
In addition, the CDF encouraged both military personnel and civilians to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts, including tree planting, as part of their collective responsibility toward sustainable living and climate resilience.
General Kahariri’s visit to Moi Barracks comes ahead of the KDF Day celebrations, an annual event dedicated to honoring Kenya’s fallen heroes and recognizing the Forces’ contributions to peace, security and national development.
