MONROVIA, Liberia – Dr. Isaac Kalua Green, Chief Steward of the Green Africa Group, is currently in Liberia at the official invitation of the Liberian government, accompanied by his wife, Susan Kalua, and Joy Kalua, CEO of Autopax.
He gave a groundbreaking speech on the topic of “Service Beyond Self” at a significant leadership conference that was attended by top executives from West Africa.
Recognised for advancing people-centred, environmentally grounded development models, Dr Kalua urged African leaders to usher in a new era of transformative stewardship.
“Africa will rise when leadership consistently delivers value, protects natural wealth, and empowers communities to prosper with dignity. Our continent cannot be built by extracting from the future but by investing in it,” said Dr. Kailua.
Dr Kalua illustrated how useful models like Green Africa Villages and Plant Your Age are in motivating organisations and governments outside Kenya by drawing on his powerful philosophy, encapsulated in his widely recognised book, Green for Life.
Bishop Bimba, Bishop Wolo Belleh, and Bishop Weah led high-level discussions with West African bishops during Dr. Kalua’s mission.

Additionally, he had formal meetings with former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President Joseph Nyuma Baraka Boakai, senior government officials, leaders of the private sector, and prominent bank executives.
These interactions looked at strategies to promote sustainable livelihoods, youth empowerment, environmental restoration, and continental cooperation.
Dr. Kalua delivered a goodwill message from President William Ruto, affirming Kenya’s commitment to advancing African-driven solutions rooted in integrity, innovation, and community transformation.
In a historic endorsement, President Boakai accepted his appointment as the Ambassador of the Plant Your Age Initiative in Liberia.
Both President Boakai and First Lady Kartumu Yarta Mwende Boakai were recognised by Plant Your Age for their visionary leadership and commitment to restoring Liberia’s natural heritage.
Against this backdrop, their Excellencies were appointed Ambassadors for Plant Your Age, inspiring citizens to plant trees equal to their age and nurture them for Life.
What is the idea behind the Plant Your Age initiative
The Plant Your Age campaign seeks to enhance and unify tree growing across Kenya, Africa and globally. There are already numerous tree-planting campaigns championed by different players and entities, but they are often time-bound and splintered, which makes it hard to track progress, survival and flourishing of planted trees. Plant Your Age doesn’t seek to replace or outshine any of these tree-planting ventures. Rather, it seeks to enhance and unify tree growing at individual, corporate and national levels.
Meanwhile, in an expression of unity between East and West Africa, the president embraced the Swahili name Baraka, while the First Lady accepted the name Mwende, meaning beloved.
Dr. Kalua said, “Liberia is rising, Kenya is rising, Africa is rising,” at the conclusion of his tour. “Africa becomes a force to be reckoned with when leaders choose service beyond self, when communities take responsibility for their environment, and when nations work together rather than compete.”
Green Africa Group continues to receive international recognition for promoting a new model of African prosperity based on shared values, long-term community transformation, and environmental stewardship.
