ATLANTA, GEORGIA, United States of America – The Global Artificial Intelligence Institute, a leading provider of comprehensive AI certification programs that connect individuals with top thinkers in artificial intelligence, has announced the appointment of Dr. Swaroop Ranjan Mishra as its Global Chairman, effective immediately.
Mishra is an Indian-born Kenyan gynaecologist, medical entrepreneur, and politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kesses Constituency from 2017 to 2022. He is widely recognised as the founder and chairman of the Mediheal Group of Hospitals, a prominent healthcare provider network across East Africa.
This appointment places Dr. Mishra in strategic oversight of the Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America-based institute’s mission, governance, and operations across all jurisdictions in which it serves.
“This appointment reflects the Institute’s unwavering confidence in your exceptional leadership, your distinguished record of accomplishment, and your enduring commitment to the responsible and ethical advancement of artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity,” the Institute, signed by a representative from the Office of the Board of Governors, reads in part.
According to the Board of Governors, Dr. Mishra’s vision aligns seamlessly with the Institute’s founding purpose: to harness the transformative power of artificial intelligence in service of inclusive economic growth, scientific excellence, and sustainable global development.
Dr. Mishra’s new mandate and responsibilities
In his capacity as Global Chairman, the Institute emphasised that Dr. Mishra will be entrusted with the following responsibilities, to be discharged with the diligence, integrity, and statesmanship that the office demands:
- ▪ Providing visionary strategic leadership and governance for the Global Artificial Intelligence Institute across all of its international operations.
- ▪ Championing partnerships between the institute, sovereign governments, academic institutions, and the private sector to accelerate ethical and inclusive adoption of artificial intelligence.
- ▪ Guiding the establishment of research, education, and capacity-building initiatives that empower communities and nations to participate fully in the global digital economy.
- ▪ Advancing policy frameworks and standards that ensure artificial intelligence is developed and deployed responsibly, transparently, and in the service of the public good.
- ▪ Representing the Institute at the highest levels of international engagement, including with Heads of State, multilateral organisations, and global thought leaders.
Inside Dr. Mishra’s new terms of appointment
The Board stated that the honorary appointment was carried out in service to the Institute’s mission and without fixed remuneration.
“It takes effect from the date of this letter and shall continue, without fixed term, until further notice, in accordance with the governing statutes and bylaws of the Global Artificial Intelligence Institute. You shall serve with the full authority, privileges, and responsibilities vested in the Office of the Global Chairman and may conclude your service, as may the Institute, upon reasonable written notice,” the appointment letter further reads.
To confirm his acceptance of the honorary appointment, the Board asked Dr. Mishra to countersign the letter in the space provided below it and return one copy to the Office of the Board of Governors.
“It is our sincere hope that your tenure will mark the beginning of a fruitful and enduring chapter for the Global Artificial Intelligence Institute and the communities and nations it serves around the world — a shared endeavour grounded in aspirations for innovation, prosperity, and the dignified advancement of all people,” the letter reads.
The Board also exuded confidence that under his stewardship, the Institute would make a lasting and meaningful contribution to the responsible advancement of artificial intelligence and digital transformation worldwide.
“We warmly congratulate you on this appointment and look forward, with great anticipation, to welcoming you and to the distinguished service you will render,” said the Board.
Dr. Mishra reacts to his new appointment
In his acceptance of the appointment, Dr. Mishra said:
“I, Dr. Swaroop Ranjan Mishra, hereby accept the honorary appointment as Global Chairman of the Global Artificial Intelligence Institute and undertake to discharge the duties of the office with diligence, integrity, and dedication.”
