The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has banned the
song Takataka by Alvin alias Alvindo
terming it as offensive to women.
In a post on Twitter dated April 16 2019, KFCB boss Ezekiel Mutua
found the song produced by FastCash Music Group to be abusive. The twit read, “@infokfcb
has made a decision to restrict the song Takataka
by Alvin aka alvindo. The song produced by @FatCashMusicKe is restricted
due to its obscene and degrading lyrics that advocate for violence against women
by equating them to trash.
He continues to explain that the restriction was right
because the song was never submitted to the board for examination and approval as
required by law.
The song went viral in January with Alvino saying the motivation
behind it was a heartbeak. In the lyrics, the singer wishes death on the woman
who broke up with her.
KFCB’a decision comes following the wave of murders in the
country targeting women who part ways with their husbands or boyfriends.
