Kenya Airways may have to ground one or more aircraft following challenges in the aircraft spare parts global supply chain.
A statement by the group’s Managing Director Allan Kilavuka read in part, “Our current flight schedule may experience disruptions in the coming weeks mainly due to challenges in the aircraft spare parts global supply chain. These challenges are leading to extended ground time for our aircraft for maintenance.”
He added, “This may lead to grounding one or more of our aircraft in line with our commitment to the highest level of safety and reliability of our operations.”
Kilavuka has urged travelers to confirm if there are any changes to their flights by checking the Kenya Airways website, mobile app, or reach out to the customer care centre.
Kilavuka added, “Our team is working tirelessly to minimize these disruptions and to keep you informed every stage of the way…Your safety and comfort are our top priorities, and we are dedicated to resolving these issues to help you navigate these potential challenges.”
Kenya Airways anticipates that the disruption may go on for approximately two weeks.
December is a busy travel month with Kenyans all over the country traveling to various destinations for vacation or to be with their families for the holidays.
