As a way of giving back to the community, Deputy Director
state department for Social Protection Mac ‘ Botongore has donated more than 300
masks to the boda boda riders and residents of Nyaribari Masaba constituency.

The 300 masks will be donated to Boda boda riders and the residents
in Nyamasibi, Gesusu, Ichuni and Masimba wards.

Botongore encouraged residents to adopt Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) especially masks, physical distance, wash hands, lessen use of
paper money, and take quarantine positively.

He asked the public to avoid stigmatization, secure and give
hope to the senior citizens and other vulnerable groups.

“Each of us can all contribute towards
containment” he said.

Kisii University has also rolled out the production of masks
as part of the efforts to help stem out corona virus infections in the country.

The institution targets to make more than 500,000 masks for
the start.

The masks will be given out free to vulnerable groups among
them mama mbogas, bodaboda operators and the elderly, University Vice
Chancellor John Akama said.

“We are hoping that this gesture will significantly aid in
warding off the infections which have begun to move to counties,” said Akama.

“The elderly consists a key component of our society and we
must be ready to help them in moments like this to safeguard them from the
effects of this pandemic.
