Police in Kisii have been warned against collecting bribes
from innocent Citizens, even as they enforce government guidelines in the fight
against COVID-19 pandemic.
Kisii Deputy County Commissioner Leonard Mgute urged
residents to report such cases to ‘Mulika Uhalifu’ via toll number 988.
Mgute was speaking during the issuing of masks to Boda Boda
riders, donated by Kisii University.
He urged them to make good use of to make good use of the
masks, observing the set guidelines by the ministry of health in order to curb
the spread of coronavirus.
“I want to thank Kisii Boda Boda riders for they have been
observing all set measures to fight COVID-19. Continue with the same spirit.
The University said it is targeting the counties of Kisii,
Nyamira and Migori, with Boda Boda riders prioritized as key beneficiaries,
since the carry get involved with the large number of the population, where
social distancing can be compromised.
“Our production rate is about 1000 to 1500 face masks per
day. We have issued or first phase of cloths masks to Boda Boda riders around
the town,” said Dr. Jackline Nyaanga, Kisii University.
