Zuri Health CEO Ikechukwu Arthur Anoke.

Nairobi, Kenya – For Ikechukwu Arthur Anoke, founder and CEO of Zuri Health, the hospital of the future is not bricks and mortar… “it fits in the palm of your hand.

In an exclusive interview with News 9 Kenya, Anoke explained the core mission of Zuri Health, a digital health facility.

“We believe that the mobile phone is the new hospital and this vision of bringing accessible and affordable healthcare to Africans through technology is taking a bold new shape with today’s launch of the MedSquad podcast,” Anoke said, at the sideline of the launch event on Thursday, September 12.

The CEO noted that the MedSquad podcast aims to put a doctor in every pocket. However, he recognised a fundamental obstacle – complex medical jargon, which often puts off the very people who need the information most.

The solution? MedSquad pod, a dynamic new podcast that swaps dense terminology for engaging narratives.

“It is more about health advocacy, pushing information around health in a very simple format that makes people more interested in the content,” Anoke explained.

The concept, which emerged from an earlier project called Dr. Zuri Show, was realised with remarkable speed.

The journey from idea to content for an entire season took just four months this year. The team produced an impressive 48 episodes, enough to release a new episode every Friday for the whole year, covering a wide range of health topics, including mental health.

The content was designed to be easy to watch and share across all major social media and streaming platforms.

MedSquad is not only a public health initiative but also serves as a showcase for Zuri Health’s expertise.

“The podcast is also an opportunity for my colleagues, physicians and whatnot to share so people can see the calibre of talent we have,” Anoke said.

With the first episode going online on Friday, 12 September, there is a sense of anticipation in the air following the initial positive feedback.

The CEO added that the project represents a significant, though undisclosed, financial commitment. When asked about the cost, Anoke was succinct: “A lot.”

Now, Zuri Health waits to see if its substantial investment in storytelling will pay the ultimate dividend: a healthier, more informed continent.
