Police in Nairobi are carrying out investigations on the fire that burnt down the registry section of the ministry of mining in Nairobi.

The police suspect arson as the cause of fire that started at 3a.m on Tuesday; however, it is not yet established as the actual cause of the fire.

The fire brigade rushed to the scene to control the fire, which is said to have burnt many documents that were there according to witnesses.

The smoke wafted to neighboring buildings and offices affecting them. Nairobi police boss Phillip Ndolo told the press that they are looking into the matter.

The incident happened when fire fighters were trying to contain fire that broke out in Toi market in Nairobi at 3 a.m on Tuesday.

The fire spread so fast burning a number of stalls in the markets as neighbors tried to put off the fire before the fire fighters arrived.

The cause of the fire is not yet established.

No casualties have so Far been reported but the locals say they have lost property worth millions.

There have been many incidences of fire alongside other disasters in the city recently, especially in the slums with limited aid agencies, indicating major gaps in urban crisis preparedness.
