Azimio La Umoja Coalition Leader Raila Odinga has urged media houses to stop spreading rumours of a split in the coalition.
Speaking in Lamu County on Monday during the commissioning of a water project in Manda Primary School, Odinga maintained that his coalition remains strong.
“There is no danger that Azimio will collapse anytime soon, nobody has left Azimio. It has remained intact apart from a few members of parliament who have decided to take a walk.”
Odinga put at rest fears that the coalition is coming to an end, saying that its primary objective which is the fight for Kenya’s liberation has not taken a turn.
“You see a banner headline in a very senior media in the country. This is irresponsible journalism that must be discarded. We don’t want the media to spread despondency among the members of Azimio.”
This comes amid conjecture that top coalition principals have expressed interest in the race to State House 2027 thus opting for other avenues, a speculation Odinga has strongly dismissed.
” We have stood firm, Azimio is on a course of liberation in this country of tyranny and irresponsibility,” Raila observed.
Narok Senator Ledama Olekina, a member of the Azimio Coalition, has also maintained that Azimio is strong, lamenting that the headlines about a split in the political faction are sponsored by people who want to see division.
“You see a sensational headline like ‘which way Azimio’ and you can you tell that these are being sponsored by people who want to see a division, he stated.
The Narok senator was speaking with Citizen TV and urged Azimio members to remain committed and follow the regulations put in place.
” ODM is a political party, a national party, and a very strong party in that sense. When you are a member of ODM, you are a member of Azimio, you’ve got to preach Azimio,” he commented.
Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP-K Leader Eugene Wamalwa have both expressed their intent to contest in the 2027 presidential elections.
