Deputy President William Ruto is on it again accusing the ODM party for expelling Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa.
Ruto took to twitter on Friday accusing the ODM leader Raila Odinga for masquerading as a champion of women, yet he allows his party to “expel a woman elected in her own right”.
“You who’ve masqueraded as champions of women, now in your true colours expel a woman elected in her own right after defeating men and blackmail her to kneel and worship you as an ‘apology’…” read the twit on Ruto’s handle.
The DP said it is ironical to accuse Jumwa over his association with her, yet he (Raila) has had a handshake with him.
“Crime?associating with elected DP of GoK you have ‘handshake’ with. Tragically deceitful.” said the DP.
On Tuesday, Mr. Odinga maintained that Jumwa can be brought into the fold only if she apologizes.
“We forgave Dori after he apologized. So if Aisha Jumwa does the same, we will forgive her,” said Mr Odinga.
On March 1, Mr Odinga reiterated that loyalty is paramount and critical, warning that his March 9, 2018 truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta was not meant to undermine the party and its leadership.
The embattled Jumwa and Dori were expelled over their dalliance with Deputy President William Ruto.
However, Jumwa has maintained her stance in support of the DP following last Saturday’s fundraiser for women group in Kilifi, where she accompanied him.
Meanwhile, Political Parties Dispute Tribunal (PPDT) extended orders stopping ODM from expelling Jumwa from the Party.
The Tribunal lead by Chyalo Mboobu withdrew the complaint against the Registrar of Political Parties by consent but will remain in the suit as interested party.
ODM was granted 10 days to respond to the claims by Jumwa, after she took the party to court following her expulsion.
