People’s Renaissance Movement (PRM) party leader Caleb Amisi has positioned his new outfit as the fresh political force that Kenyans have been waiting for since the youth-led protests of June 25, 2024.
Speaking during a Sunday evening interview, the Saboti MP described PRM as a break from the past.
“The People’s Renaissance Movement is a new awakening—a renewal, a rebirth, a fresh start from the status quo to something different, something transformative. This is a time for change. June 25, 2024, was the moment of renaissance in Kenya,” Amisi stated.
Youth awakening reshapes politics
The recent wave of protests has significantly altered Kenya’s political landscape, with young people becoming increasingly engaged and challenging traditional power structures.
While Amisi has long championed youthful leadership, he clarified that age alone is not the determining factor for effective governance.
“It does not necessarily need to be a young person, but young people have trusted, believed in, and supported the older generation. All these years, they have been deeply disappointed. Age is not the issue here—the issue is a new beginning, someone who understands Kenya,” he explained.
He attributed the current political shift to the failure of veteran politicians to deliver on their promises once elected, creating a more energized electorate demanding change.

The PRM leader indicated that the party remains open to collaboration with other presidential candidates, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Jubilee’s Fred Matiang’i.
According to Amisi, the party will back any candidate whose ideology aligns with PRM’s principles. He however hinted at supporting Nairobi Senator and Linda Mwananchi Movement leader Edwin Sifuna, whom he said they have similar political ideology; change.
“Anyone who sounds like PRM, moves like PRM, thinks like PRM; I will back them, and the party will back them. Senator Edwin Sifuna is one of those people,” he affirmed.
Caleb Amisi claims role in Edwin Sifuna’s rise
The former ODM MP reiterated his earlier claims of founding the Linda Mwananchi Movement, now under Sifuna’s leadership.
Amisi stated that he initiated the movement—initially named Kenya Moja Movement—at his Kitale home, adding that key figures like Siaya Governor James Orengo and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi were not part of the founding team.
“I am the one who made Sifuna. I started the Kenya Moja Movement, which later became Linda Mwananchi. I am the founder of Linda Mwananchi,” Amisi asserted.
Defending political stance
Despite facing criticism from some Kenyans who have labelled his position as lukewarm, Amisi has stood firm.
He maintained that he has received blessings from his former party leader, the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, for his current political direction.
“I didn’t quit Linda Mwananchi; I founded it. Before Raila died, he permitted me to form Kenya Moja. Ask anybody in ODM; they will tell you how close I was with Baba. I was his project; I would confide a lot in him, and he would do the same,” he reiterated.
