After weeks of waiting, Sharon Mitekwa and Melon Lutenyo can
rest knowing they are biological sisters born to Rosemary Khaveleli even after
being raised in different families.

This comes after Lancet Kenya unveiled DNA results on Saturday
showing that the two girls born in 1999 are sisters.

Their story hit the
headlines in April 2019 leading to the Directorate of Criminal investigations
stepping in to probe the suspicions surrounding their association.

The DNA report read in part, “They share identical DNA
profiles, with the 23 allelic loci tested show 100% perfect match, which is consistent
with the two being biological twins.”

Lancet added that Mevis Imbaya and Melon are not biological
sisters even if they grew up knowing they are.

Sharon and Melon are believed to have been separated at birth
at Kakamega County Referral Hospital.

Melon’s parents are Richard Olukhakha and Rosemary Khaveleli
from Furfural Village, Kakamega County.

Mevis Imbaya, Melon perceived sister -whom they have stayed together for 19 years turned out to be Angelina Omina -a woman who stayed with Sharon in Nairobi perceiving her to be her daughter -biological daughter.

The triplets had earlier promised to love each other as sisters despite the outcome of the DNA test.
