Airtel Kenya 01xx prefixes await CAK approval

After Airtel Kenya exhausted its 07xx phone number prefixes,
the company is yet to get approval from the Communication Authority of Kenya to
start using o1xxx prefixes.

This comes as a result of the increasing number of subscribers
Airtel expects to get in future.

Currently, Airtel customers are using 0730-0739, 0750-0756,
and 0785-0789 prefixes.

The new
01xxprefixes that the telecommunication company will use are 0100, 0101, and
0102.

From the latest CAK statistics report of the
telecommunication sector, Airtel’s market share improved a great deal from 11% in
the last quarter to 23.4%.

So far, the company has 11.56 million subscribers.
