Visiting Botswana President Eric Mokgweetsi Masisi has agreed terms with President Uhuru Kenyatta over investment opportunities between the two countries.

Speaking on Tuesday at State House, President Kenyatta invited Botswana investors to set up businesses in Kenya and explore the emerging trade and investment opportunities.

The President also commended the government of Botswana for the ongoing successful efforts to attract investments from Kenya, through the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre.

This, he added, will revolve around areas such as financial services, agro-processing, animal feeds, ICT, hotel industry among others.

Treasury scandal

Present were Deputy President Dr. William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga and Caninet Secretaries led by Chair and Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i

The trade tie comes amid controversies rocking the Treasury, with Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and his Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge cautioned by the Director of Public prosecution over Arror and Kimwarer dam scandal.

The duo were arrested on Monday and released on court bail bending hearing of their case.

Economists have argued that the Treasury is a crucial docket in the day to day running of any government, therefore leaving the office vacant could paralyse government operations.

In April, President Uhuru Kenyatta had vowed to fire any government official indicted over corruption scandals in the office.
