MERU, Kenya – The People’s Renaissance Movement (PM Party) leaders, led by Caleb Amisi, have touched down in Tharaka Nithi County in style for a Sunday mass and a series of rallies in Chogoria, Marima, Ndagani, and Chuka Town.

Earlier, Amisi and a section of PM Party officials were reportedly prevented from leaving their hotel in Meru town ahead of their highly anticipated rally in the county.
They included former Ganze MP Teddy Mwabire and gospel singer Roy Smith Mwatia, popularly known as Rufftone, who is eyeing the Nairobi senatorial seat on a PM Party ticket, among others.
A statement from the party showed that the leaders were preparing to attend a Sunday mass at the Kairuni PCEA Church in Chogoria before embarking on a meet-the-people tour in the vote-rich region.
“Caleb Amisi party PM, Hon. TEDDY Mwabire, former MP Ganze and renowned musician; and Rufftone, and Nairobi PM Senate aspirant prevented from leaving a hotel in Meru while preparing to attend a church service at Kairuni PCEA in Chogoria,’ the statement reads in part.
The PM Party campaign truck confiscated
Earlier, Amisi, who also serves as the Saboti MP, claimed that the driver of a truck belonging to his party had been arrested and moved around in unmarked cars in Embu and that the truck had been confiscated.
“He (the driver) has just been released now at 5am, too late to do the publicity it was meant to do yesterday within Tharaka Nithi. This misuse of power in countering political opponents has an end, and it is 2027,” Amisi posted on his official social media platforms.

On Saturday, September 5, 2026, MP Amisi joined the people of Chuka, Igamba Ng’ombe, for the homecoming of Patricia Kagendo, the PM Party Women League Chairperson and Woman Representative aspirant for Tharaka Nithi County.
“Kenya stands at a defining moment. Our citizens are confronting unemployment, rising living costs, inadequate access to quality public services, limited economic opportunities, and growing disconnect between political promises and the realities of everyday life,” a statement from the PM Party reads in part.
Why the party chose Tharaka Nithi as its launchpad
The statement shared on the party’s social media platforms further went on:
“We must therefore move beyond politics that is driven by personalities and short-term calculations. The country needs a new political culture, one founded on ideas, integrity, accountability, competence, and measurable delivery. The journey to a better Kenya begins with the courage to acknowledge what is not working and the determination to build what should work. Kenya needs direction. Kenya needs responsible leadership. Kenya needs a renaissance.”
The party leader announced that they had left the boardroom and had pitched a tent on the ground as the 2027 campaigns gathered momentum.
“This is the first ground invasion of the PM Party, and Tharaka Nithi is known for many things. In 2007, when Raila Odinga vied against Mwai Kibaki, the votes that secured Kibaki’s victory came from Tharaka Nithi. They came last and were massive. Now, the PMParty has decided that we are not going to wait for these votes to come in massive numbers; we have come to grab them,” Amisi added.
They may block the roads, but they cannot block an idea whose time has come. After the church service, we must proceed with the planned rally.
The youthful lawmaker revealed that the party had chosen Tharaka Nithi as the launchpad of its campaigns.
“Tharaka Nithi will go down in history books as the first county where the PMParty held its inaugural rally. When the PM Party forms the next government, the PMParty will be there as its first son. This is the first time a daughter of Tharaka Nithi has been recognised nationally and internationally,” he said.
