Sho Madjozi, ‘John Cena Swahili’ track trending –but where did she learn her fluent Swahili tongue
South
African Hip hop star Sho Madjozi has been trending after her release
of the new song dubbed John Cena, in the Swahili language.
This
is not the first Swahili Lyrics Madjozi has written and sang, she has
also sung a bubblegum-bright party track dubbed “Huku”.
Born
in a village in Limpopo Province, north of Johannesburg, she speaks
perfect Swahili, a language not spoken by the Tsonga heritage of her
birthplace, which she is best known for celebrating.

New
York Times writes, Madjozi’s formative years were mostly spent
outside South Africa.
She’s
is believed to have spent most of her tender years with her father,
who worked for an international development nonprofit organization in
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The
global movement at her tender age gave Madjzi an exposure to cultural
influences from around Africa and the world.
Reports
shows that Madjozi first appeared in the music scene in 2017 with her
debut single “Dumi iPhone” produced by PS DJz.
Her
first Swahili track “Huku” was released in March 2018,
making her popular in East Africa and South Africa.
Madjozi
is the first female artist to win BET award for Best New
International Act and fourth in South Africa.
In
June, she was awarded the Female Artist of The Year at the South
African Music Awards.
